Rare Set of 19thc Welsh Treen Scales

Description

A rare complete set of 19thc welsh sycamore and elm farmhouse scales for weighing butter .

In completely original condition

They date around 1820 and are complete with a lovely metal rivetted a repair to one of the bowls. Called " a mend and make do tinker repair " in the countryside .

The central support has a blemish , now well patinated ,presumably caused by a rush light . Check out the elm central pillar. Is that not the best patina?

The colour is rich and well patinated.

They measure 42cms h 43cms w and 16cms d

No rot or signs of woodworm.

They will grace any country cottage .
