Fine Napoleon I Period French Mahogany Console Table with Variegated Marble Top
A handsome and well-proportioned early 19th century French mahogany console table of the Napoleon I period, retaining its original variegated black marble top above two frieze drawers.
Raised on bold S-scroll uprights with finely carved volute terminals and joined by a full lower platform shelf, the table has strong architectural presence and excellent decorative appeal. The rich figured mahogany displays beautiful colour and depth, complemented by the striking fossil-pattern marble top.
Elegant yet practical, this versatile piece works equally well as a console table, centre table, or impressive hall table, and reflects the strong classical lines associated with the French Empire period.
French, circa 1805–1815.
