C. 1830, Beech and Elm, Stickback Windsor Armchair (English)
A well made and decorative armchair, almost certainly by Hubbard of Grantham, in the traditional beech and elm. This is an early hoop back version, with cabriole front legs, united by an H-frame stretcher. The chair has bentwood arm rests, saddle seat and a crinoline stretcher. The two front legs have lower egg and reel turnings.
CONDITION:
Overall the chair remains in a very good condition, strong and structurally sound. The beech and elm has a wonderful patination throughout.
PROVENANCE:
From a country estate in the Cotswolds, UK.
COLLECTION:
Buyer must collect, or arrange collection, from Westbury, Wiltshire.
