Edwardian Oddfellows Manchester Unity Friendly Society Certificate – Worcester – 1905
A richly coloured Edwardian fraternal certificate issued by the Independent Order of Oddfellows, Manchester Unity Friendly Society, recording that Brother Alfred Russell served as Noble Grand of the Loyal Saint John Lodge, Worcester, in 1905.
The lithographed artwork is decorated with allegorical and heraldic imagery, the society’s motto Amicitia, Amor et Veritas (Friendship, Love and Truth), and detailed scenes representing peace, goodwill, and industry.
Presented behind glass in its original gilt gesso frame with ornate floral corners and original backboard bearing the framer’s label for Geo. Hamer, Worcester.
Date: 9th October 1905
Frame size: 73.5 cm x 57.5 cm
Condition: Certificate in good order with bright colours and light foxing in places. Frame with wear to gilding and some losses to moulded decoration.
