Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Georgian style wingback armchair features high-backed upholstered seating with side panels or wings originally designed to trap heat and block draughts. These pieces often feature deep-buttoned leather, rolled arms, trim detailing such as brass studwork, and solid timber legs.

Traditional construction incorporates a solid hardwood frame, typically oak or beech, stuffed with natural fillings like horsehair and coil springs. The exterior is upholstered in full-grain leather, often finished with individual brass upholstery tacks along the borders.

Authentic period examples exhibit hand-carved frame joinery, evidence of hand-stitched webbing, and natural patination on the timber and hide. Later reproduction models usually feature uniform machine stitching, modern foam padding, and standardized brass stud strips.

Position the chair in a dedicated reading nook or alongside a fireplace to create a focal point. Balance the heavy visual weight of dark leather by pairing it with neutral walls, natural timber side tables, and contemporary floor lighting.

Keep leather seating away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent cracking and fading. Dust regularly with a soft cloth and apply a specialized leather conditioner periodically to preserve flexibility and protect the finish.
