Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Named after Prince Albert during the Victorian era, an Albert chain was originally designed to secure a pocket watch to a waistcoat via a T-bar and dog clip. In modern fashion, these historic gold chains are commonly repurposed and worn around the neck as statement necklaces.

Antique Albert chains were predominantly crafted from solid 9ct, 15ct, or 18ct gold, as well as sterling silver. They typically feature hand-assembled curb or belcher links accompanied by swivels, T-bars, and dog clip clasps.

Authentic British pieces usually feature hallmarks stamped on every individual link, alongside maker marks on the T-bar and dog clips. Look for subtle operational wear on the connectors consistent with historical age.

An Albert chain can be worn independently with the T-bar drop positioned centrally as a focal feature, or layered with fine gold chains and lockets for a textured, contemporary aesthetic.

Clean gently using lukewarm water, mild soap, and a soft-bristled brush to remove accumulation between the curb links. Avoid harsh chemicals or ultrasonic cleaners that could damage vintage spring mechanisms in the dog clips.
