Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the Victorian era, pewter quart mugs were standard liquid measures utilized in taverns and public houses across the United Kingdom. Standardized capacities ensured fair trade, and these vessels were heavily used daily for ale and cider service.

Victorian pewter was primarily an alloy composed of tin combined with lead, copper, or antimony to add strength. The metal was cast in molds, soldered together at joints, and hand-finished with lathe-turned profile lines.

Authentic pieces feature evidence of age such as surface oxidisation, soft wear, and casting seams. Verification marks, capacity touchmarks (such as Quart), or maker stamps were often struck into the rim or body by local inspectors.

Pewter vessels add texture and historical contrast when displayed on open wooden shelving, sideboard tops, or within glazed kitchen dressers. Arranging them alongside ceramics or copper items highlights their matte grey metal finish.

Antique pewter should be dusted with a soft, dry cloth or washed gently in warm water with mild liquid soap. Abrasive polishes and harsh chemicals should be avoided to preserve the naturally developed grey oxidisation and historical patina.
