An okimono is a small Japanese ornamental display sculpture created purely for aesthetic appreciation, typically displayed in a tokonoma alcove or desk setting. Popularised during the Meiji period, these objects were sculpted from bronze, wood, or ivory and often depicted animals, insects, or mythological figures.
