We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Japan pattern ironstone china emerged in early nineteenth-century England during the Georgian era, inspired by imported Japanese Imari porcelain. British potteries produced durable earthenware decorated with floral motifs, stylized foliage, and gilding in rich cobalt blue and iron red tones.

Georgian ironstone comports were made from a dense earthenware formulation containing clay, china stone, and flint, engineered to resist chipping. Decorative elements were typically applied through transfer-printed outlines combined with hand-painted enamel colours and gilt detailing.

Authentic Georgian ironstone displays a heavy, dense opaque body and slight weightiness compared to standard earthenware. Marks may include impressed factory stamps or hand-painted pattern numbers alongside visible hand-applied enamel texture over the transfer design.

An antique ironstone comport functions well as a decorative focal point on a sideboard, coffee table, or console. It can be displayed empty to highlight the detailed hand-painted pattern or utilized to hold fruit or botanical arrangements.

Wash ironstone pieces by hand using warm water and a gentle liquid soap, avoiding abrasive pads and chemical cleansers. Avoid soaking gilt-decorated ceramics or placing them in dishwashers, as intense heat can wear down hand-painted enamels and gold leaf.
