Antique 19th Century Oak Chest of Drawers

Description

An antique 19th century oak chest of drawers of neat proportions, crafted in solid oak with a warm, mellow colour and pleasing patina throughout. The chest is arranged with two short drawers over three long graduated drawers, all fitted with attractive period brass drop handles and escutcheons. Constructed in two sections for ease of transport and access, making it a practical piece for modern homes. Raised on later replacement block feet. The drawers run smoothly and the oak displays good colour and character throughout. A particularly attractive example.

CONDITION REPORT:

In good antique condition throughout with signs of age and use commensurate with age. There is surface wear, including age-related marks, scratches and fading in places, particularly to the drawer fronts where there are some water marks. There is some historic loss to the beading at the drawer edges, and the back right corner of the top. The chest stands on later replacement block feet and the base to the underside has been replaced by our carpenter to further strengthen the piece. The drawers run smoothly and the piece remains structurally solid and sound. Overall, a good quality antique oak chest of drawers with plenty of character.
