Exquisite Victorian Silver Christening Mug by the Fenton Brothers, Sheffield 1884

Description

This beautiful Victorian silver christening mug is hallmarked for Sheffield 1884 and bears the marks of the Fenton Brothers. Of tapered form, embossed in the Gothic style with unusual strap-work patterns under a fine beaded border. It has a distinctive angular leaf-capped handle and boasts it original pale gilt interior.

FF over SF for the Fenton Brothers (Frank Fenton & Samuel Fenton)

Lion Passant.

Sheffield Assay mark.

Duty Mark.

Date letter "R" for 1884.

Dimension and Weight:

Height: 7cm / 2.6 inches.

Rim diameter: 5cm - 2 inches.

Base diameter: 6cm / 2.5 inches.

Weight: 2.7 oz / 77 g
