Fine French Giltwood Three Fold Screen with Bevelled Glass & Silk Panels C.1870

Description

A fine French three-fold giltwood folding screen dating to circa 1870, of elegant serpentine outline with shaped bevelled glass panels above beautifully figured silk upholstered lower sections.

Each panel is framed by finely moulded giltwood with delicate Rococo-inspired detailing, the upper glazed sections allowing light to pass through while the lower silk panels provide privacy and decoration. The original bevelled glass and attractive floral silk upholstery complement the refined proportions and graceful French styling.

The three hinged sections fold neatly for storage or display and allow the screen to be positioned in a variety of settings. Ideal as a room divider, dressing screen or decorative feature, it would make an elegant addition to a bedroom, drawing room or boutique interior.

Presented in good antique condition with a warm original gilt finish and minor age-related wear consistent with its age, adding to its authentic charm.
