A good quality Edwardian mahogany pedestal desk dating to circa 1900, fitted with a green gilt-tooled leather writing surface over an arrangement of nine drawers. The desk stands on twin pedestals, each with three graduated drawers, with three further drawers across the frieze providing ample storage.
Constructed with oak-lined drawers featuring hand-cut dovetail joints, the desk is fitted with attractive brass swan-neck handles and retains its original key escutcheons. The polished mahogany has developed a rich warm colour and the green leather writing surface has an attractive aged patina, adding to the desk''s period character.
The desk is finished on all sides, allowing it to be free-standing if required, making it equally suitable for use in a study, office or library.
A handsome, well-proportioned antique desk combining practicality with classic Edwardian design.
