Antiques4EU has dated this Dutch Delftware Lidded Vase to the 18th Century.
The sides and reverse are naively painted with sprays of flowers, while the cover is surmounted by a finial in the form of a bird pecking a plum. The underside of the base bears an underglaze blue painted mark formed of the initials C.B. surmounted by a crown and a cross. This mark was, until recently, attributed to the Early 18th Century Brussels atelier of Corneille Mombaers and Thierry Witsenburg, but current scholarship has, so we understand, declared against this. An imposing and decorative piece of polychrome Delftware, fit to grace the finest collection.
