Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Cocktail watches emerged in the 1920s and reached peak popularity mid-century, designed primarily as evening jewellery that discreetly incorporated a timepiece. Hooded or secret watches featured a hinged cover over the watch face, allowing the piece to function visually as a bracelet during formal occasions.

Mid-century dress watches were typically crafted from solid gold, such as 14ct or 18ct yellow or white gold, often paired with diamond or precious gemstone accents. The bands frequently featured woven, textured, or flexible mesh gold metalwork integrated directly into the watch case.

Authentic pieces feature official hallmarks indicating the gold purity on the case interior or clasp, alongside the Omega logo engraved on the crown and dial. Mechanical movements from this period are signed with the makers mark and unique caliber and serial numbers inside the case back.

A gold cocktail watch serves as a statement jewellery piece suitable for elevated evening wear or formal attire. It pairs naturally with tailored suits, evening gowns, or minimal modern silhouettes, acting as both a functional timepiece and an ornate bracelet.

Keep vintage mechanical timepieces away from water, moisture, and strong magnetic fields. Clean the gold mesh gently with a microfiber cloth, avoid applying chemical cleaners directly to gemstones, and have the mechanical movement serviced by a professional watchmaker every three to five years.
