Brief Description:
This is an incredible quality original Dutch Old Master Oil Portrait Painting depicting Maurice of Nassau, Prince of Orange (1567-1625).
Painted during the late 17th and early 18th century by a follower of the Dutch Baroque artist Michiel Jansz van Mierevelt (1566 - 1641).
The bust-length Portrait of the Prince portrays him in full armour, wearing a structured white linen pleated ruff collar alongside a prominent orange sash draped across his shoulder, representing the House of Orange.
It is a truly exceptional piece that underwent a full, professional restoration during the 20th-century.
Mounted within a fabulous quality gilded (later) cushion moulded frame.
Attached to the stretcher verso are ancient gallery labels - see images.
