Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Gaudy Welsh pottery refers to a style of decorated earthenware produced between the 1820s and 1900s, primarily in Wales and Staffordshire. It is characterised by hand-painted floral, leaf, or geometric designs rendered in bold cobalt blue, copper lustre, green, and orange enamels.

These items were crafted from moulded lead-glazed earthenware or ironstone. Craftsmen applied dark cobalt blue underglaze decoration before firing, followed by overglaze enamel colours and copper lustre detailing applied by hand.

Authentic pieces feature unrefined hand-painted application with minor variations in glaze, fine surface crazing, and distinct regional motifs such as the Gower, Tulip, or Grape patterns. Many pieces remain unmarked or bear simple impressed numerals rather than manufacturer backstamps.

An antique jug can be displayed as a decorative vessel on a sideboard, mantelpiece, or open kitchen shelving. It can also function as a vase for fresh foliage or dried florals to complement traditional or modern country interior schemes.

Wash the item gently by hand in lukewarm water using mild detergent, avoiding harsh abrasives or prolonged soaking. Keep the ceramic clear of dishwashers and heat sources to preserve the delicate overglaze enamel and prevent further crazing.
