Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Victorian collectors cabinet is a specialised piece of storage furniture featuring numerous shallow drawers designed to organise and display items such as coins, biological specimens, shells, or medals. Emerging in popularity during the 19th century, these cabinets reflected the Victorian eras passion for natural history and curated private collections.

These cabinets were frequently constructed from durable solid woods such as deal, pine, mahogany, or oak, often finished with dark stains and polishes. Internal components featured small brass handles or ring pulls, card holders for labelling, and occasionally velvet or cloth linings along the frames and drawers.

Authentic pieces from this period typically exhibit hand-cut dovetail drawer joinery, period-correct brass hardware with natural oxidisation, and hand-planed secondary woods on the back panels. Wear patterns around original locks, hinges, and drawer runners also indicate genuine historical age.

A collectors cabinet serves as functional storage in an office, hallway, or living room for items like stationery, craft supplies, or jewellery. Its simple architectural form and warm wood finish allow it to complement both classic and modern minimalist decor schemes.

Dust the exterior regularly with a dry, lint-free cloth, avoiding harsh aerosol sprays or chemical cleaners. Apply a neutral beeswax polish sparingly once or twice a year to preserve the wood finish and protect the timber against dry environmental conditions.
