Antiques4EU has dated this Georgian Brass Bottle Jack to the 19th Century.
This one in less than perfect condition, but still very authentic is here offered complete with it's wrought iron hanging ring together with four hooks. The base plate stamped JOHN LINWOOD WARRANTED ~ John Linwood of 57, St. Paul's Square, Birmingham, whose device of a tree was registered with the Sheffield Assay Office in 1807, for which see, JOHN LINWOOD. Further datails of the Linwood family of Birmingham metalworkers, including John, may be found in Wrightson's Triennial Directory for 1818, for which refer to LINWOOD.
