Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

These decorative containers were traditional dressing table accessories during the nineteenth century, designed to hold small items of jewellery, pins, or toilet requisites. They typically featured hand-cut lead crystal bases paired with chased or engraved sterling silver lids.

The glass bases were mouth-blown and wheel-cut with geometric or faceted patterns to catch light, while the lids were handcrafted from sterling silver. Lids were shaped, hand-engraved or embossed with scrollwork, heraldic crests, or monograms, and fitted securely onto the glass collar.

Authentic British silver pieces bear official hallmarks stamped on the lid, including the lion passant for sterling quality, a town mark, a date letter, and a maker mark. The glass components exhibit crisp, hand-cut facets rather than rounded moulded seams, along with faint surface wear on the base.

Position the box on a vanity unit, bedside table, or bathroom tray to store rings and small accessories while adding a reflective accent. It can also be arranged alongside glass perfume bottles or placed atop decorative books on a console table.

Clean the glass base gently using warm water and mild liquid detergent, avoiding abrasive pads. Wipe the silver lid with a soft cotton cloth and specialised silver polish, ensuring cream does not collect within deep engraving line details.
