Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Regency writing slope is a portable wooden box crafted during the early 19th century, designed with a hinged, angled lid that opens to create a sloped writing surface. These boxes typically contain specialized compartments for paper, inkwells, pens, and sealing wax.

High-grade hardwoods such as walnut, mahogany, and rosewood were predominantly used for the exterior casing, often accented with brass corners and escutcheons. Interior writing surfaces were commonly lined with embossed leather or velvet.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joints, original brass flush-fitting hardware, authentic glass inkwells, and age-appropriate wear on the leather writing inset. Hardware constructed with slotted steel screws and brass hinges further indicates period construction.

An antique writing slope functions as a functional decorative object on an office desk, console table, or library bookshelf. Open displays showcase the internal leather writing pad and glass inkwells alongside classic stationery or fountain pens.

Apply a high-grade beeswax polish to the timber surfaces using a microfibre cloth, buffing along the grain. Leather surfaces require gentle cleaning with a soft brush and treatment with a specialized leather conditioner to prevent drying and cracking.
