Antique Cut Crystal and Sterling Silver Heart Shaped Box - 1901

Description

A romantic example of an Edwardian heart shaped trinket box made from a heavy thick piece of crystal beautifully cut in the ever-popular hobnail design with a star cut to the base.

The solid or sterling silver lid is excellent quality with an elegant repousse decorated lid surrounding a central vacant cartouche which could be engraved if desired.

The silver is of course hallmarked, for Birmingham 1901, late Victorian in era, together with the makers mark SB & S L for the silversmith, S. Blanckensee & Son Ltd.

Superb condition (a few minuscule rough spots on high points of glass cuts (insignificant and mentioned purely for accuracy), measuring 2 3/4" x 2 1/4" x 2" tall.
