Pareglio & Ayres Antiques Interiors has dated this Wmf Figural Torchere Lamp to the 1900s.
The focal point of this lamp is a beautifully detailed silver-toned neoclassical sculpture depicting the goddess Athena (Minerva), elegantly clad in draped classical robes, supporting a decorated aegis shield and balancing an ornate urn vessel upon her head.
Crucially, the lower rim of the sculpture features a crisp, authentic stamped maker's mark: "W.M.F.
The "I/O" designation indicates WMF’s premium "Normal Silver Coating," representing a heavy, high-grade electroplated silver layer designed for luxury exhibition pieces. This specific stamp configuration dates the production of the figure precisely to circa 1903 – 1910, WMF’s most coveted Art Nouveau and Jugendstil design period.

The authenticated WMF sculpture stands magnificently atop a late 19th-century fluted mahogany standard pedestal stand. The timber displays an exceptional rich colour, deep depth of tone, and fine grain configuration, terminating in a stable, tiered architectural base typical of high-quality period cabinet-making.

The item is presented in good, stable antique condition, retaining an excellent soft, authentic age-patina to the silver plating.
As is typical with historic lighting pieces, there is a visible aesthetic lean to the upper section composition. This mechanical tilt is an assembly characteristic of the historic mounting and could be realigned by a restoration specialist if a perfectly straight vertical line is preferred. The piece is priced to fully accommodate this characteristic.
