Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Posy vases became prominent during the nineteenth century as decorative table accents designed to hold small floral arrangements or single stems. Silver examples were produced in regional silversmithing centres across Britain, serving as functional table accessories in Victorian households.

Late Victorian silver vases were generally fabricated from spun or raised sheet sterling silver, joined to a cast or weighted pedestal base. The upper rim was often hand-fluted or shaped into a wavy contour, while the body retained a smooth surface.

Genuine pieces feature official hallmarks struck by the Chester Assay Office, which include the town mark of three wheat sheaves and a sword, the sterling silver lion passant mark, a date letter, and the registered makers mark.

A silver posy vase functions well when styled atop a mantelpiece, bedside table, or sideboard alongside books and understated glassware. Displaying single natural stems highlights the sleek metallic finish without cluttering the surface.

To preserve the surface finish, gently polish silver with a soft microfibre cloth and a specialized non-abrasive silver cream. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners and store in low-humidity environments to minimise tarnish and oxidisation.
