Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Popular during the late Victorian and Edwardian eras, novelty silver pin cushions were functional sewing accessories cast in decorative shapes, predominantly animals such as dogs, birds, and elephants.

These items were typically constructed from hollow sterling silver shells and filled with a textile pad, commonly velvet or plush, designed to hold steel sewing pins securely.

Authentic pieces bear official British hallmarks stamped directly onto the silver body, including a makers mark, town mark such as the Birmingham anchor, silver purity mark, and a date letter corresponding to the year of manufacture.

Small figurative silver items function as accent decor on an office desk, dressing table, or within a glass display cabinet alongside other antique metalwork.

The silver body should be gently wiped with a soft silver polishing cloth to remove tarnish, taking care to avoid contact with the fabric cushion to prevent staining or moisture damage.
