Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian silver tableware, created between 1901 and 1910, is known for its lighter, elegant forms and neoclassical influence compared to heavier Victorian styles. Shell motifs, delicate fluting, and specialized cased gift sets were especially popular during this era.

These sets typically feature solid sterling silver for the main dish and matching knife blade. The presentation cases were crafted from wood covered in leather or faux leather and lined with silk and velvet fitted to the exact shape of the silverware.

Authentic British pieces bear official assay office hallmarks, including the lion passant for sterling silver, a town mark (such as a leopards head for London), a makers mark, and a specific date letter corresponding to the year of manufacture.

An antique silver shell dish can be incorporated into modern dining table settings for entertaining, placed open on a sideboard top as a decorative object, or repurposed on a dressing table to hold small items of jewellery.

Wash silver gently in warm, soapy water and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth immediately after use. Regular dusting and occasional polishing with a specialised silver polishing cloth will remove oxidisation and maintain its surface.
