Imari porcelain refers to Japanese export ceramics produced in the Arita region from the seventeenth century onwards, characterised by underglaze blue and overglaze iron red and orange enamel decoration.

These bowls were crafted from kaolin ceramic clay fired at high temperatures, decorated with cobalt oxide for underglaze blue elements, and finished with enamels in iron red, orange, and green.

Authentic pieces display hand-painted floral or foliage motifs with slight execution variations, maker or region marks on the base, and characteristic underglaze blue paired with surface enamelling.

Imari porcelain bowls can be placed on a sideboard top, displayed within an open bookcase, or arranged on a console table to provide historical contrast and vivid pattern.
