Copeland & Garrett Pair Of Scottish Views Dishes, Pattern 5750, C.1833–1847

A rare pair of English porcelain dishes produced by Copeland & Garrett during the firm''s celebrated 1833–1847 partnership period. Decorated with named views of Loch Cullin and Loch Alsh, they combine finely painted landscapes, vivid apple-green grounds and richly moulded Rococo Revival borders.
 
The reverse bears pattern number 5750, identifying the pair as part of a larger dessert or fruit service. The combination of topographical decoration and bold colouring places them among the more ambitious decorative wares of the factory.
 
Trading for only fourteen years, Copeland & Garrett produced some of the most desirable ceramics of the early Victorian period. Wares bearing this mark are considerably scarcer than later Copeland production and remain highly sought after today.
 
Examples from the factory are preserved in important museum collections, including the Victoria and Albert Museum. Complete surviving pairs such as the present example are encountered far less frequently than ...
