Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Hoshiarpur furniture originates from the Hoshiarpur district in Punjab, India, during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Produced largely for export during the British Raj, these pieces are characterised by intricate bone or ivory inlay set into dark hardwoods forming geometric and floral patterns.

These tables were typically crafted using native Indian hardwoods such as rosewood, teak, or shisham wood. The decorative surface patterns were constructed using carved sectionals of bovine bone, mother-of-pearl, or ivory secured with natural adhesives.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-cut, slightly irregular inlay fragments with minor variations in surface level. The underside often shows hand-sawn wood construction and collapsible or hinged joints secured with period-correct brass or iron fittings.

An octagonal inlaid table works effectively as a sculptural accent piece beside clean-lined modern seating. Placing it in an entryway or living room corner provides a focal point of detailed surface pattern that contrasts with neutral, minimalist upholstery.

Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth and keep the item away from direct sunlight or extreme moisture fluctuations, which can cause wood shrinkage and loosen the inlay. Avoid harsh liquid cleaners or saturated polishes that might lift small inlay tesserae.
