Grand Large Antique English Mahogany & Brass Postal Scale - Signed

Description

A wonderful larger size with most unusual cast brass fittings with the support designed with various circles and both the letter and weight pans circular in form, which of course is unusual.

These two pans are decorated with a floral and foliate engraving. This engraved decoration is followed through to the two large 1 lb weights. Between these is a complete stack of weights including the small half ounce topper. The fabric that lined the weight compartments has worn over the last 120 years, but nice that it hasn't been replaced and it is untouched.

The balance is signed William Mitchell's and dating to around 1890 /1900.

A very heavy offering but domestic and overseas registered delivery is included. 10 1/2" x 6" x 5" tall.
