Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The Arts and Crafts movement emerged in Britain as a reaction against industrial mass production, emphasizing hand craftsmanship, structural honesty, and natural materials. Furniture from this era often highlights the intrinsic figure of native timbers, simple geometric forms, functional drawer arrangements, and subtle turned or carved details.

Craftsmen predominantly utilized solid European hardwoods such as ash, oak, and walnut. Construction techniques focused on traditional joinery, including dovetail joints for drawers, mortise and tenon framework, structural stretchers for stability, and solid brass drop handles or backplates.

Authentic pieces exhibit visible signs of hand finishing, solid wood drawer linings rather than modern plywood, and period-appropriate hardware. Look for characteristic design signatures such as flared side brackets, turned legs, horizontal stretchers, and occasionally maker stamps or metal badges under drawer rims or on rear panels.

An ash side table can function as a hallway console, a compact home office desk, or an accent table behind a sofa. Its warm wood tones contrast effectively against neutral plastered walls, contemporary artwork, or modern table lamps to create a balanced, layered space.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft, dry lint-free cloth. Apply a quality beeswax polish periodically along the grain to nourish the timber and maintain the patina, while keeping the piece away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent shrinking or timber movement.
