CLOCK FACE STAMP

"JGP&S" is most commonly a hallmark or engraving for J.G. Pfeffer & Son, a historic maker renowned for pipe organs rather than standard clocks. If you have an antique clock or watch with this engraving, it may have been custom-built by them.

Very decorative example which is a stunning looking time piece to grace any home.
Note the gilt columns are all hand made.
Porcelain enamelled face with opening hinged glass bezel.
There is a musical device in the bottom case which plays a tune when it strikes on the hour.

The clock is an eight day winder with a brass fretworked lightweight pendulum and has a Silk suspension movement.
Dateline : 1780 -1805 Approx.

The condition is good for the age.
Original musical device still inside the clock
built as a custom example instead of having the standard cheaper coil kong which were often hard to hear.

The clock when running in the past was temperamental due to its age and relies on a level surface and not over winding or failing to wind on time which might affect the running or can stop without warning.
This clock is therefore sold as a “non runner”.
as there is a ti y pin missing which attached the pendulum and the musical device key is missing.
Also a silk thread which trip the music to start playing has broke, just need new nylon thread.
Therefore until these small things are attended to, the clock will have no guarantee given to run without periods of stopping, however this hand crafted timepiece is from the era of when Admiral Lord Nelson was alive.
