The English Interior has dated this Victorian Dog Needlepoint Tapestry to the 19th Century.

The image is worked in very fine counted stitches which helps to create a surprisingly painterly effect. Highlights include the footstool which is richly ornamented with gilded scrolling decoration and the delicate pale grey-blue which throws the dog into relief.

The warm-toned antique (likely original) b=urr maple wooden frame complements the red and gold colours of the taspeatry within.
In fine condition, colours fresh and ready too hang and enjoy;
