Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Designed by Rene Lalique in the 1920s, the Ondines motif depicts swirling water nymphs moulded in relief on press-moulded art glass. The opalescent effect creates a distinctive milky blue luminescence as light passes through the glass.

Opalescent glass was produced by incorporating specific chemical compounds, such as bone ash or fluorides, into the molten glass mixture. Controlled cooling and reheating caused localized crystallisation, resulting in a dual-colour shift from warm amber to translucent blue depending on light reflection.

Authentic period pieces typically feature wheel-carved, moulded, or acid-etched signatures such as R. LALIQUE or R. LALIQUE FRANCE. Genuine opalescent glass from this era exhibits crisp relief detailing, flawless finishing, and smooth polishing around rims and foot rings.

Position the plate on a display stand near a natural light source or inside an illuminated cabinet to highlight its glowing opalescence. Pair it with dark timber, brass accents, or marble surfaces to create visual contrast.

Wash delicate art glass by hand using lukewarm water and a mild detergent, avoiding abrasive sponges or harsh chemical solvents. Dry thoroughly with a soft microfibre cloth and store away from extreme temperature fluctuations.
