Antique 18th Century Oak Dresser Base

A handsome antique 18th century oak dresser base of generous proportions, showcasing beautiful figured oak throughout and a rich, deep colour developed over time. The dresser base features three drawers to the top, each fitted with brass knobs, above a pair of panelled cupboard doors opening to useful storage. The simple, well-balanced design and quality timber make this a particularly versatile piece, equally suited for use as a sideboard, kitchen dresser base, or storage cabinet.

CONDITION REPORT

In good antique condition throughout with signs of age and use. There is surface wear in places including age-related marks, scratches and knocks commensurate with age. Evidence of historic woodworm is present in places, though this is long inactive and the piece has been treated as a precaution.

There are historic repairs and alterations consistent with the age of the piece, including repairs and losses to areas of the back edge, as well as minor shrinkage to the timber. The dresser base retains a pleasing overall appearance and remains structurally solid and sound. The drawers run well and the cupboard doors open and close as intended.
