A Derby Porcelain ''Neptune'' Mug Duesbury & Kean period c.1780 - 1800. Naturalistically modelled and enamelled as the head of Neptune, with flesh toned enamels and thick brown wavy hair and beard, below the iron red and gilt serrated band simulating a crown, gold dentil edge, set on a short foot and with a large loop handle split at the top and moulded with wave effect edged in turquoise and gold.
Impressed ‘*’ mark for the repairer Isaac Farnsworth.
Puce Derby mark along with gilders mark 12 for John Duesbury
Condition: Good. Some wear to the gilded band around the rim. Some light surface scratches to the enamel. Small chip to base. Small hairline crack down the top right branch of the handle but not extending right the way through.
