Antique Silver Heart Double Photograph Locket Pendant

Description

An early 20th century silver heart-shaped locket set with a pretty pink paste cabochon. Likely originating from continental Europe, the design is typical of Jugendstil (Germanic Art Nouveau) and early Art Deco sentimental jewellery. The front has a very lightly hammered finish and the back is satiny smooth, it's quite tactile.

SIZE: 2.5 x 3cm, not including the top link.

WEIGHT: 5.6g.

MATERIALS: Silver, paste gemstone.

HALLMARKS/STAMPS: Stamped 800 (silver fineness) and CW on the bail.

CONDITION: The locket is in very good antique condition with normal surface wear for its age. The hinge and clasp are in good working order - the clasp is quite a fiddly one, we found it easiest to open with the end of a pin, but then it's definitely shut securely to keep your treasured pictures safe!

ERA: Estimated 1900-1925.
