Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Pot pourri vessels were crafted to hold fragrant dried herbs and flowers, diffusing subtle aromas through decorative openings in the lid. Popular during the eighteenth and early twentieth centuries, sterling silver examples served as both functional items and decorative status symbols on dressing tables and sideboards.

Edwardian silversmiths constructed these vessels using sterling silver, combining cast structural elements with hand-pierced fretwork covers. Techniques included piercing lattice patterns into the domed lid and soldering tripod support legs onto the main bowl.

Authentic British sterling silver pieces bear official assay office hallmarks, including the lion passant mark for silver purity, a town mark, a date letter, and a makers mark. Silver produced in 1911 features the specific date letter assigned by the relevant assay office for that year alongside maker signatures such as Walker & Hall.

An antique silver pot pourri bowl functions as a decorative focal point on a polished wooden sideboard, a hallway console, or a marble mantelpiece. Pairing the metallic finish with natural botanicals, framed artwork, or dark wood surfaces creates a balanced display.

Clean sterling silver using a soft microfibre cloth and a specialized non-abrasive silver polish to reduce tarnishing and oxidisation. Avoid harsh dipping chemicals or abrasive scrubbing tools that could damage delicate pierced fretwork or alter the metal surface.
