Description
A fine 18th-century engraved light baluster wine glass dating to c.1735–40.
It has a flared bell bowl with a solid basal section, the upper rim finely engraved with delicate fruiting vine decoration. The bowl is supported by a small shoulder baluster knop above a large baluster basal knop. Conical foot with a snapped pontil.
A particularly elegant example of a light baluster form, retaining the strong influence of early 18th-century decorative engraving whilst displaying the increasingly refined proportions associated with the period.
