Brian MacDonald Antique Rugs & Carpets has dated this piece to the 1860s.
This unusual prayer-rug with a natural, undyed camel-hair field and a myriad of small '8-pointed' stars, was made by Baluch tribes close to the Turkmen border of north-western Afghanistan, around the mid 19th century.
The whole drawing is quite unique and certainly archaic and very much a collector's piece.
In overall good condition with areas of slight wear.
