Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

William IV seating produced between 1830 and 1837 bridges the late Regency and early Victorian eras. It is characterised by substantial mahogany or rosewood frames, bold carved scroll details, and heavy turned or fluted legs.

Traditional construction utilised solid mahogany framing, steel coil springs, hand-tied webbing, and natural fillings such as horsehair and wool felt, finished with brass studding and brass castors.

Authentic pieces feature robust proportions, hand-carved show wood elements such as lotus leaves or scrolls, original brass castors, and period joinery like hand-cut mortise and tenon joints.

Re-upholstering the piece in a modern neutral linen or textured wool allows the historical mahogany frame to contrast cleanly against minimalist architecture and muted colour palettes.

Apply natural beeswax sparingly to show wood surfaces to preserve the patination, vacuum fabric gently with a soft brush attachment, and keep the chair away from direct heat sources to prevent timber shrinkage.
