Unusual Antique French Burr Maple Scent or Perfume Bottle Box C.1840

Description

A quite wonderful and early French perfume bottle box, an unusual and striking "cube" shaped box made from burr Maple and the inlaid strapping looking to have been created from Partridgewood.

The top is crowned with a heavy polished steel ring handle and complimented by four decorative polished mounts around the lid.

The box (complete with working key) opens to reveal the original four exquisite bottles with delightfully floral cut stoppers. There are a few chips (a couple of ring chips and a chip to the underside of one of the floral stoppers), nothing serious but mentioned for accuracy.

The box lined with it's original pale blue paper and a pale pink silk on the inside of the lid.

A beautiful and unusual piece dating to around 1840. 3 3/4" x 3 3/4" x 4" tall.
