This is a truly magnificent, huge, original early 19th-century Oil on Canvas Portrait depicting Donna Mencia Escaping From The Cavern Of The Banditti.
Painted by the highly collectable Royal Academy-listed British artist ''John Opie'' (1761-1807).
This very impressive piece comes with phenomenal provenance, as it was exhibited at Harvard Art Museum.
Indeed, it was included in the 1930 exhibition:
“Eighteenth Century English Painting: in Honour of Professor Chauncey B. Tinker of Yale University”.
