Description

A beautifully executed late 19th-century landscape oil painting by T.S. Barber, depicting a tranquil riverside scene beneath an expansive sky. The composition is centred around a group of mature trees beside a gently flowing stream, with rocky outcrops to the foreground and open countryside stretching into the distance. A solitary figure can be seen walking through the landscape, adding both scale and atmosphere to the work.

The painting displays a particularly skilful use of light and colour, with soft blue skies contrasting against the rich greens and earthy tones of the wooded foreground. The artist has captured excellent depth and movement within the foliage and water, creating a highly decorative and pleasing scene.
