Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Turquoise gained immense popularity during the Victorian era, often gifted as a token of true love and remembrance due to its association with the forget-me-not flower. It was frequently set into intricate gold and silver mountings using cabochon cuts and pave arrangements.

Victorian craftsmen commonly combined silver and gold, using silver to set light-coloured stones like turquoise to preserve their blue hue, while silver-gilt or low-carat gold formed the backings and ear fittings for durability.

Authentic 19th-century pieces feature hand-cut natural turquoise cabochons, hand-hammered claw settings, period-accurate ear wires, and gentle surface oxidisation on the metalwork that develops naturally over time.

These historical pieces can be styled as focal accessories alongside contemporary minimalist attire or displayed in modern glass-topped jewellery trays and frame boxes as decorative dressing table accents.

Turquoise is a porous stone that should never be submerged in liquids, ultrasonic cleaners, or exposed to harsh chemicals. Clean gently using a dry, soft microfibre cloth to remove oils and preserve the natural patina of the silver and gold.
