Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Jasperware is an unglazed vitreous stoneware developed by Josiah Wedgwood in the 1770s, characterised by its matte finish and raised neoclassical bas-relief decorations. During the Victorian era, dark blue variants with sterling silver or silver-plated mounts became popular for functional tea services.

These sets consist of dense, coloured stoneware bodies featuring applied white slip classical figures and motifs. The top rims, spouts, and lids are fitted with hallmarked sterling silver or electroplated nickel silver mounts to protect vulnerable edges from wear.

Authentic Victorian Wedgwood pieces feature distinct impressed stamps on the underside, such as WEDGWOOD accompanied by uppercase letters denoting production dates. Look for crisp detail in the white bas-relief figures and verified silver hallmarks along the metal collars.

Position the complete service on a dark wood sideboard, within a glazed display cabinet, or on a tray to highlight the contrast between the white relief work and dark blue background. Grouping Jasperware items creates an architectural accent in both traditional and modern spaces.

Clean the stoneware body using warm water and mild liquid detergent, avoiding abrasive pads on the relief details. Polish silver mounts carefully with a specialized silver cloth, ensuring polish compounds do not contact the porous matte ceramic surface.
