We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian majolica is a type of earthenware characterised by vibrant, coloured lead glazes applied directly over detailed, relief-moulded designs. Introduced in the mid-19th century, it frequently featured whimsical, naturalistic motifs drawn from flora and fauna.

Majolica pieces were produced by pressing or casting clay into plaster moulds to create defined surface decoration. Once dried and fired, metallic oxide glazes were brushed or painted onto specific areas before a final firing to achieve rich, glossy colour.

Authentic pieces often feature impressed factory marks, such as MINTON, alongside year ciphers, shape numbers, or registry marks on the underside. Additionally, authentic period glaze displays deep translucency and natural crazing rather than uniform modern finishes.

A majolica tureen serves as a focal centrepiece when placed on a dining table, console, or sideboard. Its saturated colours and expressive sculptural details pair exceptionally well with minimalist backdrop styling or maximalist dining displays.

Dust regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. Avoid soaking period earthenware in water or using abrasive cleaners and dishwashers, as moisture can enter existing crazing lines and compromise the glaze integrity.
