Peter Harris Clocks & Militaria has dated this Victorian Cavalry Officer Helmet to the Victorian era.
Constructed with a polished white metal skull fitted with gilt brass mounts, retaining its ornate crowned Royal Arms front plate within an oak and laurel wreath, complete with original style gilt chin scales and white horsehair plume.
A well-proportioned officer-grade example displaying the elegant late Victorian cavalry profile.

An increasingly difficult type of British military headwear to source complete and with strong visual impact.
Condition Report
Good antique condition overall. Original horsehair plume present. Gilt fittings and front plate appear period and well matched. Interior lining shows age-related wear and losses as expected.

There is a small stable age-related crack to the left side of the helmet body, visible on close inspection but not materially affecting display, see photos. Minor surface wear and evidence of historic polishing consistent with age and use.
