First edition print dated 1910 from Japanese Fairy Tales by Warwick Goble. These beautiful prints were printed separate from the book in 1910 and have been superbly presented and framed in our own award winning studios. 4 conservation mounts each with double stepped corners and presented in a Japanese style black lacquer frame. A specially printed copy of each story presented in a gallery folder is given with each picture.

Overall framed size 16.5 inches by 14.5 inches….420mm x 370mm. Print size approx. 175mm x 120mm

Warwick Goble was a prominent British illustrator during the Golden Age of Illustration, active in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In 1910, Macmillan published Green Willow and Other Japanese Fairy Tales, featuring Gobles colour watercolour illustrations heavily influenced by traditional Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock prints and Art Nouveau aesthetics.

Edwardian book illustrations were typically reproduced using the three-colour or four-colour photomechanical process. This method allowed intricate watercolour paintings to be printed on paper tipped onto heavy card stock, capturing subtle colour gradations and tonal variations.
