A Late Victorian Bullion Box in Red Moroccan Leather

This superb small box is designed for keeping gold and silver coins and bank notes, and would originally have been kept secure in a safe.

The box is beautifully hand made in wood, which is covered in fine, tooled red Moroccan leather.

The box is fitted with polished brass hinges and a high quality brass lock that is fully working with the original key.

The lid opens to reveal a superb fitted interior with a section in the lid for storing banknotes which is embossed in gold.

The box is fitted with two compartments with hinged lift up lids for storing coins. Each is embossed in gold script with the words gold and silver.

To either sides there are two narrow apertures which originally held small accounts ledgers for keeping a record of the contents.

We have now had a pair of replacement ledgers hand made by a local bookbinder to complete this rare box.

I feel that in these modern times, this box could suit a person interested in investing in gold and silver coins
